“If it was a 10 or 15 over run, then the game could have been a little different”: LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya on their defeat against DC

New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) assistant coach Vijay Dahiya acknowledged their team’s initial deficit in the game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

He explained that they attempted to make a comeback by encouraging Miller to play more aggressively, hoping for a quicker run rate to close the gap.

“We were a little behind the game. There was an attempt that if Miller comes and plays a little more attacking style, then we can make a comeback. If it was a 10 or 15 over run, then the game could have been a little different," Vijay Dahiya said in the post-match press conference on Tuesday.

Dahiya analyzed LSG’s loss of momentum, attributed it to conceding a large number of runs in the 8th and 9th overs. He also acknowledged the challenging pitch, he focuses on their inability to capitalize on their momentum and praised Delhi Capitals’ bowlers for adapting well to the conditions.

“I think, apart from the pitch, we had more than 80 runs in the 8th and 9th over. We have lost some momentum from there. Rather than talking about the pitch, we will try and address the other thing. I think we should have ridden that momentum. And let’s give credit where it’s due. I think Delhi Capitals’ bowlers assessed that condition very well at that time," he added.

KL Rahul smashed a half-century and led DC to an eight-wicket win against his old team, LSG, in their IPL 2025 match at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Abishek Porel (51) and Axar Patel (34*) also made vital contributions with the bat.

Rishabh Pant faced a challenging game and received criticism for batting at No. 7 as LSG reached a total of just 159. Only Aiden Markram rose to the occasion for LSG, scoring a fifty and taking two wickets. (ANI)
