UPSC 2024: Gwalior’s Ayushi Bansal Secures All India 7th Rank, Credits Mother For Success; Jabalpur’s Swarnim Choudhary Shines With 258th Rank
Ayushi Bansal of Gwalior Secures All India Rank 7
Gwalior’s Ayushi Bansal has achieved a big milestone by securing the 7th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Additionally, this is not her first time clearing UPSC. She had earlier cleared the exam twice and was serving as an IPS officer. However, this time she aimed higher and finally achieved her dream of getting a top rank.
Ayushi’s journey to success was full of challenges. Her father, Santosh Bansal, who worked with LIC (Life Insurance Corporation), passed away in a road accident when she was young.
Ayushi and her mother were injured in the same accident. After her father’s death, her mother, Radha Bansal, also an LIC employee, took up the responsibility of running the household and raising Ayushi alone.
Currently undergoing IPS training
Ayushi did her early schooling in a private convent school in Gwalior. She later convinced her mother to let her study in a reputed school in Delhi for her higher secondary education. It was a tough decision for the family, but her mother supported her. Ayushi then pursued engineering from IIT Kanpur and later worked with two well-known companies before fully focusing on UPSC preparation.
She earlier secured the 188th rank in the 2022 UPSC exam. But Ayushi didn’t stop there. Her determination and hard work finally brought her to the top 10 this year.
In an earlier interview, she said that her motivation comes from the struggle her mother faced. "If anyone deserves credit, it’s my mother. She managed work, home, and me all on her own," Ayushi said.
Currently, Ayushi is undergoing IPS training in a Naxal-affected area, and her mother shared that it’s difficult to contact her due to poor mobile connectivity.
Swarnim Choudhary from Jabalpur Secures 258th Rank
Another proud moment for Madhya Pradesh came from Jabalpur, where 24-year-old Swarnim Choudhary cracked the UPSC exam with an All India Rank of 258, in just his second attempt.

Swarnim comes from a business family. His mother is a lawyer and his father is a businessman. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a cricketer, but later chose the path of civil services.

He believes in smart and selective study over long hours. In his message to young aspirants, Swarnim said, “More than studying for long hours, it is important to focus on selected and relevant syllabus.”
His mother, Sapna Jain, expressed her happiness and said she always believed in Swarnim’s capabilities and is proud of his achievement.
