The third day will be observed on the day of the funeral of Pope Francis. During this time, the national flag will fly at half-mast on all buildings across India where it is regularly hoisted. Also, no official entertainment programs will be held during this period. Pope Francis, whose real name was Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was elected Pope in March 2013. He was known worldwide for his simple life, dedication to social justice and outspoken stance on issues like environmental protection. His demise has caused a wave of grief not only in the Catholic community but in the entire world. In India too, many leaders and organizations have condoled his death.
Priests of many churches in the country have also mourned his death. Pope Francis, who was suffering from kidney disease, died on Monday. The Vatican gave this information in a video message.
