Warring accuses Muktsar police of high-handedness; SSP rejects charge
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday accused the Muktsar police of high-handedness, claiming that Congress workers and leaders were being targeted by them.
Warring levelled the allegation in a Facebook Live session and accused Muktsar SSP Akhil Chaudhary of establishing a “police raj”.
The SSP rejected the accusations. “We are working as per law and procedure, doing professional policing,” he said.
For the past two days, Warring has been using his Facebook handle to target the police. Gidderbaha DSP Avtar Singh had on Monday issued a rebuttal, calling Warring’s video “misleading”.

The DSP’s statement came after Warring claimed that a man and his wife were thrashed at Kothe Hazure Wale village in February this year, leading to the woman’s miscarriage, but the police “booked the woman under harsher sections of law”.
On Tuesday, Warring shared two instances, alleging that two Congress leaders were booked in false cases.
He claimed that the police were “harassing” a former sarpanch of Takht Malana village. He accompanied Sahil Monga, a resident of Malout, in his video, alleging that a case of attempt to murder was registered against him after he left ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the Congress during the Gidderbaha Assembly bypoll last year.
“Not just the men in his family, a woman was also booked. Now this man, Sahil Monga, has been granted bail by the court. However, the cops are not allowing him to join investigation,” he alleged.
Warring, however, denied that his live videos had any connection with the murder case registered against Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa’s father-in-law and brother-in-law.
“He (Randhawa) is elder to me and a senior leader in the party. Why would I make it a matter of prestige? The issue is that we have been raising some genuine concerns in the past, but the cops were not listening,” he said.
He claimed that three Congressmen of Takht Malana village were detained on Tuesday by the Bariwala police but released when their party workers lodged a protest there.
Another arrest in Muktsar double murder case
The police here arrested another accused in the double murder case, allegedly involving two relatives of senior Congress leader and Gurdaspur Lok Sabha MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
A father-son duo — Vinay Partap Brar (55) and Surya Partap Brar (22) — was shot dead on Saturday at Abul Khurana village near Malout allegedly over a land dispute.
Vinay was a nephew of Congress leader and former Sardulgarh MLA Ajit Inder Singh Mofar.
The police have booked Randhawa’s father-in-law Nachattarpal Singh and his brother-in-law Ravinder Singh as conspirators.
They are currently on the run while the key accused in the case, Davinder Singh, alias Rana, had surrendered in a Malout court on Monday.
The police arrested Karanpal Singh of Gurusar Jodha village on Monday night after his identity was established.
Rana and Karanpal were today produced before a Malout court, which remanded them into three-day police custody.
Earlier, the court had sent Rana to one-day police custody on Monday.
According to the FIR, Rana allegedly fired the bullets while Karanpal, earlier unidentified, “struck Vinay with a baseball bat".
