Bahadurgarh’s Aditya Agarwal 9th in Civil Services exam
Aditya Vikram Agarwal (28), a resident of Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district, has made the state proud by securing the 9th rank in the Civil Services Examination, the results of which were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday.
Despite setbacks, including twice reaching the interview stage without success, Aditya remained undeterred and would study up to eight hours daily.
Aditya completed his BTech in mechanical engineering from MNNIT-Allahabad and later worked for a year in a private company. However, in 2019, he decided to change course and prepare for the UPSC exams.
“I suddenly felt the urge to prepare for the Civil Services, inspired by the diverse opportunities it offers to help those in need. I quit my job and began full-time preparation. I cleared the mains in my third attempt and reached the interview stage, but didn’t make it to the final list. I repeated the same performance in the fourth attempt. I succeeded in my fifth attempt,” he told ‘The Tribune’.
“I am happy to have achieved my goal. I am especially interested in working in the fields of education and healthcare, where impactful changes are needed,” he said.
Apart from academics, Aditya enjoys cooking and often prepares meals for his family. “I am also a fitness enthusiast and go to the gym regularly,” he added.
Aditya’s father, Ram Avtar, retired from a private company over a year ago, and his mother, Madhu, is a homemaker. “Aditya has made us proud. Today is his fast, so I will prepare his favourite ‘churma’. We will visit the temple in the evening to thank God for this blessing,” she said.
