Youth gets 20 years in jail for raping minor in Gurugram

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar on Tuesday sentenced a youth to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him for raping a minor in 2020. The convict was also minor when he had committed the rape, but now he is 22 years old.

According to the police, the case dates back to October 28, 2020, when the youth lured the 16-year-old girl to go with him. An FIR was registered at the Rajendra Park police station. After she was found, the medical examination confirmed that she had been raped.

The accused, who was also a minor, was apprehended. He was sent to correction home by the Juvenile Justice Board.

After this, the police team investigated the case and collected all the necessary evidence and witnesses against the youth and presented them in court with a chargesheet.

“On the basis of the chargesheet filed by the Gurugram police and the evidence and witnesses, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar, while giving the verdict in the above case, declared the accused guilty. The court has sentenced the convict to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fire of Rs 50,000 on him,” said a spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
