Mumbai Road Accident: Scrap Shop Owner Crushed To Death By Dumper In Bandra West; Driver Arrested For Negligence

A 45-year-old man died in an accident in Bandra West on Tuesday. The incident occurred near Bandra Police Station at around 12:30 p.m., when a dumper lorry ran over a bike rider.

The victim, Dinesh Jain, died on the spot. He was a resident of Santacruz West and owned a scrap shop near SV Road, Jama Masjid, in Bandra West. He was on his way to the shop at the time of the accident. The dumper driver was arrested by Bandra police. 

According to eyewitnesses, road construction work was ongoing in the middle of the street, with large stones placed on the road. The victim’s bike slipped, and as he fell, a dumper lorry approaching from behind ran over him. Bystanders rushed him to Baba Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Bandra Police recorded statements from the deceased's family members.

The accussed has been identified as Siddharth Kamble, 26. The police registered a case against him under sections 281, 125(a), 125(b), 106 (1) BNS along with a 184 of the motor vehicle act.

The family is demanding that the police register a case of negligence against both the road contractor and the dumper driver. Additionally, no CCTV footage has been found from the scene so far, which has raised further suspicion. The dumper driver has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
