Indian-origin Sachin Katti has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and AI Chief at Intel Corporation. He was born in Belagavi, Karnataka. Intel’s new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, has been making changes to the company’s leadership team. As part of restructuring, Sachin Katti was appointed to the roles of CTO and AI Chief. Before this, Katti was not part of Intel but joined through his work in startups.
Who Is Sachin Katti?
He had founded a startup named as Uhana which was focused on creating real-time AI solutions for mobile networks. The company was later acquired by VMware. Katti worked as Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager of the Network and Edge Group in Intel. He focused on improving network infrastructure and developing intelligent solutions.
Katti had also founded Kumu Networks, a company which was working on full-duplex radio technology and a system of radios to send and receive signals simultaneously. Katti made the world’s first commercial full-duplex radio, which gave him $45 million in funding.
Sachin Katti Educational Qualification
Sachin Katti was born in Belagavi, Karnataka, into a family of doctors. He graduated from IIT Bombay in 2003 and did his MS and PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
His brother, Amit Katti, a urologist, once mentioned how a school principal had inspired Sachin and other students to prepare for IIT.He started preparing for it from sixth grade.
Sachin Katti has been involved in AI advancements like his company Uhana’s Deep Learning for Carrier Networks utilized deep learning and real-time AI to enhance performance in carrier networks and applications.
Katti’s latest research was on ML-EXray, a solution for deploying machine learning applications at the edge. This system improves operational processes and provides enhanced monitoring capabilities for edge-based machine learning implementations.
