This announcement was made during the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After that it was expected that the government would announce the names of the members of the Pay Commission in early April. So far no such announcement has been made by the government, but a big update related to the 8th Pay Commission has come to the fore.

How will the posts of the 8th Pay Commission be filled?

According to the government circular, the appointments in the 8th Pay Commission will be made as per the rules laid down by the Department of Personnel (DoPT). DoPT will issue standard guidelines for this from time to time. The Department of Expenditure (DEA), under the Ministry of Finance, has proposed to fill 35 posts in the 8th Pay Commission through deputation.

This means that people will be selected from different departments to prepare the recommendations of the Pay Commission. When the work of the commission is completed, that is, it submits its recommendations to the government, then the people appointed to these posts will return to their original roles or departments.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

The government has not yet finalized the names of the members of the 8th Pay Commission. However, the recent circular of the government shows that work is going on fast on this and the names of the members of the Pay Commission can be announced very soon. After the Pay Commission is constituted, it will submit its recommendations to the government. After that the government will decide when to implement the 8th Pay Commission.

According to sources, the 8th Pay Commission can be implemented from January 1, 2026. However, some media say that there may be a delay in this and the 8th Pay Commission can be implemented from 2027. In case this happens, the government can give the increased salary as arrears from January 1, 2026.
