MP Horror: 8 Killed, Six Injured After SUV Returning From Jogeshwar Dham Falls Off Bridge In Damoh

Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): As many as eight people died and six others were injured in horrific accident reported in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh on Tuesday. The accident happened after an SUV returning from Jogeshwar Dham lost control and fell in a ditch.

Lost control due to over speeding

The accident took place around 11am on a bridge constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana at Mahadev Ghat near Simri village. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Shrut Kirti Somwanshi the SUV driver lost control over the vehicle, leading it to skid off the bridge and fall onto the dry riverbed below.

According to reports it is suspected that the driver lost control over his car due to over speeding.

The victims were a part of a group travelling in two SUV's from Ghat Pipariya village in Damoh and were local resident of Jabalpur. While one SUV passed safely the the other one met with the horrific accident.

Emergency first responders reached the site and the injured travelers were immediately rushed to the nearby Damoh district hospital. Passengers got severely injured and are undergoing treatment.

Cops have launched an investigation into the accident. Initial reports and investigations suggest loss of control as the reason, though further details are awaited.

Second horrific accident within 48 hours

This is a second such accident reported in two days. A traveller bus carrying bride, groom and their family members overturned in Raisen on Tuesday. Six people died on the spot while three, icluding the bride and groom, sustained severe injuries.
