Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol are among the most loved actors in the Bollywood industry. While they have worked in various movies together, there was one role that Kajol turned down alongside SRK. In 2000, helmed by Mansoor Khan, the film Josh was released.

The movie featured Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Chandrachur Singh in lead roles, with Priya Gill and Sharad Kapoor in key roles. However, did you know that before approaching Aishwarya Rai, director Mansoor Khan had asked Kajol to be a part of the film? Not just that, he also wanted Aamir to star in the film.

In an interview, Mansoor said, “The character of Max was very special for me, and only Shah Rukh was in my mind for this.” Mansoor wanted Shah Rukh to play the role of Max and Aamir Khan to play the romantic lead opposite Aishwarya in the film.

However, when the script was narrated to Aamir, he thought that Max’s character was being offered to him. Upon learning that the role of Max was offered to SRK, he refused to do the film.

Mansoor also said that he had narrated the story of the film to Kajol and offered her the role of Shah Rukh’s sister. But Kajol did not want to play SRK’s sister. Hence, she refused to do the film. Later, it was Aishwarya who played opposite SRK and portrayed his sister. Mansoor said, “Aishwarya was very professional. She accepted the role without any hesitation. I think Josh is one of her best films.”
