School Holiday 2025: There is relief news for school students. After the end of examinations, due to heatwave, different states have started announcing summer holidays in schools. Under this, schools will remain closed for many days in April May. Apart from this, the timing has been changed in many schools.
On the occasion of Lord Parshuram Jayanti on 29 April 2025, the Punjab government has declared a state holiday. On this day all government offices, schools, colleges and universities in the state will remain closed. However, some essential services like hospitals, ambulances, electricity-water and emergency services like fire brigade will remain fully functional.
Know when and for how long the summer vacation will be in which state
Madhya Pradesh: According to the order issued by the Madhya Pradesh Government School Education Department, summer vacation has been declared for students from May 1 to June 15 and for teachers from May 1 to May 31. These holidays will be applicable simultaneously to all private and government schools in the state.
Delhi: Summer holidays in Delhi schools will start from May 11 and end on June 30. However, teachers will have to report to schools from June 28.
Jharkhand: According to the annual calendar released by the Jharkhand Education Department, this time the summer holidays will start from May 22 and will last till June 4, 2025. Earlier these holidays were scheduled till June 2, but in view of the scorching heat and heat wave, the holidays have been extended by two more days.
Tamil Nadu: In Tamil Nadu, summer vacation for class 1 to 5 will run from 22 April to 1 June, class 6 to 9 from 25 April to 1 June and class 10 students from 15 April to 1 June.
Himachal Pradesh: This time summer vacation in Himachal Pradesh schools will be for 32 days from 12 July to 12 August. Earlier it used to be for 38 days from 22 June to 29 July. 4 holidays of April have been stopped, instead summer break will be available from 1 to 8 June. Schools in Nalagarh, Fatehpur, Nagarota Surian, Indora, Paonta Sahib, Kala Amb and Una districts will have 30 days summer holiday from 1 to 30 June.
Uttar Pradesh: All government and recognized schools in Uttar Pradesh may be closed from 18 May 2025. The holidays will last till 15 June 2025. That is, children will get a total of 28 days of summer vacation. However, summer camps will be organized for children in council schools of Uttar Pradesh between 20 May and 15 June. In this, children will be taught many subjects along with studies in a playful way.
School Timing Change: School timings changed in these districts
UP’s Agra District Magistrate Arvind Malappa Bangari has changed the timings of all government, non-government, private and missionary schools from nursery to class 8th. Now all schools will run from 7 am to 12:30 pm till further orders. During this time, all educational and other activities of students will be banned in open spaces in the school premises. All responsibility for negligence will be of the principals of the schools.
In Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, the timings of schools have been changed from 7 am to 12:30 pm. All government and non-government primary and upper primary schools of Dausa district will also open from 7.30 am to 11.30 am. However, no change has been made in the timing of the school staff and teachers. Regarding this order, the Education Department has clarified that if any educational institution is found violating this order, strict action will be taken against it under the rules.
In view of the increasing heat in Jhunjhunu, the school timings of children up to class 8 have been changed. As per the order of District Collector Ramavatar Meena, the timing of all government and non-government schools will be from 7:30 am to 11:00 am from April 19 to May 16, 2025. Apart from this, the timing of schools has also been changed in Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Didwana-Kuchaman, Sriganganagar, Beawar districts.
