Current Gen Mercedes-Benz GLB Discontinued - How Did The SUV Do Here In India?

Mercedes-Benz has a vast product range in India while it has now stopped taking bookings for the GLB SUV. The GLB SUV was imported to India and is a compact 7-seater SUV which also had an electric sibling in form of the EQB. The GLB is the ice version and in India was available with petrol and diesel versions. While not as popular as the GLC which is one of their most popular SUVs, the GLB sold in decent numbers in India.

The GLB has a rugged and boxy look while the three row seating for its relatively compact size is also unique. There were both diesel and petrol with automatic options in India while both variants were priced under Rs 70 lakh. Despite being an import, the GLB was decent in value and not priced very high. Globally, the GLB has had a facelift which has not made it here while now we can expect the all new gen to come here instead.

The GLB sort of positioned itself between the GLA and the GLC but with a three row option. When we tested it we liked the rugged styling while the 3rd row was a bit cramped but a highlight for sure. The styling was more like a smaller version of the flagship GLS SUV and that worked in its favour while being an import the GLB was priced closer to the GLC. It remains to be seen how the GLB returns to India in a new avatar altogether in the future.
