Vimal Negi’s wife files petition for CBI probe into husband’s death
A petition has been filed in the Himachal Pradesh High Court seeking a fair investigation into the death of Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (HPPCL).
Kiran Negi, wife of Vimal Negi, has filed the petition seeking a CBI probe into her husband’s death. Dissatisfied with the investigation conducted so far, the petitioner has demanded the transfer of the case to the CBI to ensure a fair investigation.
It has been contended in the petition that the petitioner had registered his objection with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police that had declared Vimal Negi’s death as a case of suicide without investigation.
In the case, the body of Vimal Negi, who had been missing since March 10, was found in the Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. After Negi went missing, his wife wrote a letter to the Chief Minister alleging that the then Managing Director and other senior officials were harassing her husband. Acting on her complaint, an FIR was lodged at New Shimla police station.
