Kangra district victim of govt apathy, says Dharamsala MLA

Dharamsala MLA Sudhir Sharma accused the state government of discriminating with Kangra district in development works. Addressing a press conference here today, Sharma said Kangra, the biggest district in the state, is a victim of government apathy. He also raised the issue of delay in the coming up of Central University campus in Kangra and the shoddy work being undertaken under the Smart City Project in Dharamsala.

Sharma announced that BJP would soon organise a massive rally to expose the present government’s step-motherly treatment meted out to the district. He blamed the state government for deceiving the people of the district in the name of Kangra airport expansion.

“The state government has released merely Rs 350 crore which is grossly insufficient for the much-harped Gaggal airport expansion, which will cost Rs 3,000 crore. People residing there are in a dilemma whether to undertake repairs in their dwellings as they have not been given compensation to shift elsewhere,” he said.

He said that after being in power for more than two years, the Congress-led state government could put the blame on the Centre for its own shortcomings. He said the Central government has provided liberal financial assistance to the state government for development works. BJP’s state spokesperson Rakesh Sharma, Media Co In-charge Vishav Chakshu and district president Sachin Sharma were also present on the occasion.
