National Herald case a diversion tool, claims Cong

The National Herald case is the BJP’s invention for digression, diversion, and distortion, claimed All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Bhanwar Jitendra Singh.

Holding a press conference at Chandigarh today, he said the case was a tactic to divert public attention from crucial issues facing the nation.

“It is a diversion from its failures. It is a distortion of the freedom struggle and disparages its heritage,” he said.

Stung by the Congress’ historic Gujarat session held recently, wherein Rahul Gandhi aggressively exposed the BJP, the Modi-Shah duo has again unleashed the ED — their favourite criminalised extortion machine — on the Congress, he alleged.

For the first time, he claimed, charges of money laundering were being made in a case where not a single penny or asset had been transferred. “Debt is converted into equity to make the balance sheet debt-free. It is a common practice and perfectly legal. Where is the laundering when there is no money?” he asked.

He also added that the Modi government had made the Enforcement Directorate  (ED) its election department and was shamelessly misusing it for vendetta. “The conviction rate of ED cases is 1%. Moreover, 98% of political cases the ED has registered are against political rivals of the ruling party,” he said.

BJP removing ‘Kaushal karmis’: Hooda

Chandigarh: Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday claimed that breaking promises had become BJP’s nature and it had started throwing Haryana Kaushal Rozgaar Nigam’s employees out of jobs.

He said during the elections, the BJP had announced to make all 1.25 lakh employees employed under Rozgaar Nigam permanent. “However, as soon as it formed the government, it started removing workers from every department one by one. Due to this, unemployed youth are forced to take to the streets and protest,” he said.

“All temporary workers are living under the threat of losing their jobs. The workers who are barely surviving on temporary jobs and minimum wages, are now facing a livelihood crisis. More than 2 lakh posts are lying vacant in the government departments of the state,” he added.
