BJP launches Waqf reform awareness campaign across Delhi
The Delhi BJP on Monday launched a citywide Waqf reform awareness campaign to educate the public about the Waqf Amendment Bill and counter misinformation being allegedly spread by the Opposition. The campaign, led by the BJP Minority Morcha, will continue till May 5 and involve outreach at the mandal (block) level across Delhi.
The campaign was flagged off at the party headquarters in the presence of BJP Minority Morcha national president Jamal Siddiqui, Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal, programme coordinator Atif Rasheed, state president Anees Abbasi and other key leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Jamal Siddiqui said the Waqf Amendment Bill was designed to strengthen the Waqf Board and protect the rights of poor and backward Muslims by targeting illegal encroachments and misuse of Waqf properties. He added, “The government does not want to weaken the Waqf Board, but to turn it into an iron pillar of support for the community.”
Siddiqui also made a pointed statement, saying, “Allah always sends someone for the welfare of people, and today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working as that person.”
Vishnu Mittal said the Waqf Board had become a “hub of corruption” and praised the bill for aiming to free encroached land and ensure accountability.
Anees Abbasi said the BJP’s slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” was being truly realised, especially with growing focus on women’s participation and community upliftment.
The BJP will hold a series of events, public meetings and interactions till May 5 to clarify the intent of the Bill and reach out to the Muslim community.
