Odisha Grapples with Heatwave: 49 Heat-Related Illnesses Reported  

Bhubaneswar: Amid a severe heatwave in Odisha, the State Government reported 49 heat-related illness cases, with some requiring hospitalisation.

Sambalpur district was hit hardest, with 40 cases on Sunday, followed by Deogarh (6 cases), and Khordha, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar (1 case each).

On April 19, one person was hospitalised.

Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra noted no suspected heat stroke deaths or hospitalisation have been reported.

He advised citizens to take precautions, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, and stay hydrated to cope with the extreme heat.
