Naveen Mourns Passing Away of Pope Francis

Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik expressed profound grief over the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Taking to his ‘X’ handle, Naveen said that he was deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Pope Francis’ Papacy was exemplified by compassion, humility and promotion of interfaith dialogue, Naveen said.

“Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of His Holiness Pope Francis. His Papacy was exemplified by compassion, humility and promotion of interfaith dialogue. May his soul rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his millions of fans and followers”, Naveen wrote on his ‘X’ handle.

Pope Francis has died at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta, the Vatican said in a statement on Monday.

The leader of the Roman Catholic Church had been suffering from respiratory ailments and pneumonia.
