Hyundai Reports 68.5% SUV Share in FY 2024-25 Sales
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has reported changes in consumer preferences for FY2024-25, with sunroof-equipped vehicles accounting for 53.2% of its total sales. This indicates increased demand for additional features in the Indian market.
The company’s SUV segment also saw a rise, contributing 68.5% to total domestic sales, compared to 63.2% in the previous fiscal year. Models in this category include the EXTER, VENUE, CRETA, ALCAZAR, TUCSON, and IONIQ 5.
According to Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO at HMIL, two out of every three Hyundai vehicles sold in India during the financial year were SUVs. He noted an increase in the adoption of models with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and sunroofs, suggesting that more buyers are opting for vehicles with additional technology features.
The share of ADAS-equipped variants increased from 6.7% in FY2023-24 to 14.3% in FY2024-25. Currently, 9 Hyundai models offer ADAS, and sunroof options are available in 12 out of 14 models.
HMIL also provides a range of fuel and transmission options, including Petrol, Diesel, Turbo Petrol, CNG, and Electric powertrains. Transmission choices include manual, iVT, AMT, AT, and DCT, offering flexibility across its lineup.
The data highlights a broader trend among Indian car buyers showing interest in added features, multiple drivetrain options, and larger body styles like SUVs.
