Nushrratt Bharuccha On Lack Of Film Offers & Nepotism: 'Shraddha Kapoor & Sonakshi Sinha Have Opportunities, In-Roads Mil Jaate'
Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha, recently seen in Chhorii 2, opened up about her struggles not receiving film offers despite delivering two hits, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. She also admitted that while Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor, who made their debuts the same year with Dabangg and Teen Patti respectively, have seen a steady rise in their careers, her own journey in the industry has been significantly more challenging.
On Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, the actress admitted that Sonakshi and Shraddha have an advantage as they know the film industry and the people as compared to her. "If not them, their parents do or some or the other connection know. Toh hota kya hai, woh unn jagah pe pahunch jaate hain jahan main pahunch nahi paati. Woh unn darwazon pe khatkhata sakte hain jahan ka mujhe address bhi nahi pata shayad. Ye bohot practical problem hai, but ye real hai," she added.
She continued, "When I did Pyaar Ka Punchnama, I wanted to message a director I really wanted to work with, number kahan se laun? How do I meet that person? Uss waqt I texted director Kabir Khan, thinking kya pata woh reply karenge ya nahi. He replied, and that made my month. He said, 'Milne aajao.' I was so happy."
The actress admitted that it is especially tough for outsiders to even get a filmmaker's number or land a meeting. While she refrains from labeling star kids as 'nepo kids,' acknowledging that they too face their own set of struggles and pressures, she added, "Unko opportunities, aur in-roads mil jate, jo humko nahi milte."
Further expressing her gratitude, Nushrratt added, "I feel like, yes, I would’ve loved more opportunities, I would’ve liked more yes than no's. I would’ve liked to hear more reasons why not me and someone else. But I’m still very happy with all the films I did get. Main 20 saal mein 10 pictures karke bhi khush hoon."
