Rohtak PGIMS introduces 30-day medicine supply for OPD patients
In a significant relief for thousands of patients visiting Pt BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak, the hospital administration has announced a major change for its outpatient department (OPD) medicine distribution policy.
Patients will now receive a 30-day supply of medicines instead of the earlier 3 to 4 days’ supply.
The decision, taken under the leadership of PGIMS Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal, aims to ease the burden on patients who travel long distances for treatment. He credited the initiative to the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr HK Aggarwal and Director Dr SK Singhal, whose patient-centric vision led to this change.
“This is a major step forward in providing better healthcare services. Patients from neighboring states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh, as well as remote parts of Haryana including Sirsa, Dabwali, Ambala, Panchkula, Mahendragarh, and Kaithal, visit our hospital. Many of them faced difficulties due to frequent hospital visits for medicine refills, despite being prescribed medication for a full month,” said Dr Mittal.
Under the new system, patients attending the Ch Ranbir Singh OPD will now receive a full 30-day medicine supply in one go, reducing the need for weekly hospital visits. Dr. Mittal emphasized that this not only saves time and travel costs but also ensures continuity of treatment and improved availability of medicines.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to patient welfare. It will help reduce crowding in the hospital and ensure that patients don’t have to queue up every few days for medicines,” Dr Mittal added.
