Rekha reveals why she never misses having babies
Veteran actor Rekha is known for her aura and private nature.
However, she offered a rare glimpse into her personal life during a candid conversation with Rediff. From her brief marriage to her views on motherhood and relationships, the legendary actress opened up with honesty.
While she has been romantically linked with several prominent figures in the film industry, her only confirmed marriage was with Delhi-based industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal in 1990. Tragically, the union was short-lived, as Aggarwal died within a year of their wedding. Since then, Rekha has chosen to remain single, leading an independent life.
In the interview, Rekha was asked whether she missed having children. She replied, “Not any more. Even if I find the ultimate man to have babies with, it would be very unfair to my priorities. I cannot be there for just one human being in the world because if I have a baby, I would not be able to focus on anything else.”
The actor, who has often described her work as her true calling, added that motherhood demands commitment that she feels might conflict with her broader purpose.
“Then what happens to the babies all over the world with whom I am connected?” she asked. “If you have the power to be Rekha then you better be prepared to reach out to anyone who wants to reach out to you.”
Rekha also opened up about the idea of having a partner in her life.
“If I had a man, I would be devoting all my attention to that one person. I am an extremely uni-focus person,” she said. “Main unka bed bhi banaoongi. I will take out his clothes, personally monitor his menu, prepare the dabba and personally deliver it to him.”
Rekha added, “I do not think I am capable of enjoying the best of both worlds. I cannot the deprive the other world of fans and admirers just for that narrow world of a family. Maybe I am being unreal and impractical, but I am not in denial. If I find someone who is willing to share me with fans, I might change my mind.”
