Security forces neutralise 6 Naxals in Jharkhand, recover arms

In a major operation, security forces killed six Naxalites in forest areas of Jharkhand’s Bokaro during the early hours of Monday. The operation is continuing and security personnel have recovered arms and ammunition from their hideouts.

 

 In a joint operation with Jharkhand police, the CoBRA commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force conducted a combing operation in Lugu Hills of Lalpania area Bokaro. The troops of 209 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), the special jungle warfare unit of the CRPF conducted the operation, senior officials said.

 

The exchange of fire began at 5.30am on Monday and six Naxalites were neutralised, officials said. No injuries have been reported among the security personnel and the operation is continuing. Security forces have recovered two INSAS rifles, a self-loading rifle (SLR)and a pistol were seized from the hideout of Naxals.

 

The development comes after massive anti-Naxal operations in the recent past in Chhattisgarh. Security forces have eliminated over 50 Naxalites in multiple operations in Chhattisgarh recently. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said India will be free of left-wing extremism by 2026. The Union minister said the Narendra Modi-led government has a zero tolerance approach towards leftwing extremism in the country.

 

 “The Modi government is moving forward with a ruthless approach against Naxalites and is adopting a zero tolerance policy against those Naxalites who are not surrendering despite all the facilities ranging from surrender to inclusion. The country is going to be Naxal-free before 31 March next year,” Home Minister Shah had said.
