Humourous drama highlights absurdities of modern life

Hindi comedy play ‘Stand Up Mr Khurana’ brought to fore the humour of a dysfunctional family as the drama was staged at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan this evening. The play was organised by Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam and the cast included Mahesh Thakur, Priyal Gor, Rajesh Balwani and Tanu Vidyarthi.

The play was set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s glamourous world and delved deep into the theme of identity, family dynamics and pursuit of dreams, while keeping the father-daughter relationship at the forefront.

The play’s opening scene featured Mr Khurana grappling with some personal and career challenges and amidst all this chaos his estranged daughter came to live with him and brought her live-in-partner along. The comical situation highlighted the absurdities of modern life.

Mahesh and Priyal gave spectacular performances as the father and daughter in the play, which was a beautiful symphony of human emotions, combining a delectable style of comedy.

The play was the right mix of emotions, pathos and humour which captivated the audience until the very last minute. A hilarious father-daughter tale, the play was a whirlwind of laughter where characters had the funniest equations
