PGI campus switching to online indenting system

The online indenting system is now being adopted across the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) campus.

The system was first introduced in C Block of Nehru Hospital on March 18. Now, the remaining centres, including the Advanced Eye Centre (AEC), Advanced Cardiac Centre (ACC), and Advanced Pediatric Centre (APC), are also adopting the system.

The switch was prompted after the PGI uncovered a racket involving the misappropriation of medicines through fake indent books meant for patients under the Ayushman Bharat cashless scheme, which was immediately reported to the police.

The new system is designed to help the hospital manage resources more efficiently. Having already been successfully implemented in Nehru Hospital, Emergency, and the Advanced Trauma Centre, the system is now being expanded across the PGIMER campus.

“We have already adopted it in Nehru and Emergency; now the target is to implement online indenting across the hospital,” confirmed a senior doctor from the PGI administration department.

On April 12, authorities had released a circular detailing the transition to an advanced online indenting system, replacing the previously used manual method for acquiring drugs, consumables, and implants for beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat, HIMCARE, and CGHS schemes across the hospital.

An important aspect of the new system is its integration with patient care. Indent requests are directly linked to the patient’s details, ensuring that the correct drugs and equipment are delivered to the appropriate patients.
