Inside details of Dev Anand’s Juhu home, first bungalow owned by a Bollywood star, was sold for Rs…, is now set to become…

Bollywood has witnessed many great actors. From Prithviraj Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Pran Sikand to Raj Kapoor, Amrish Puri, and many others. Today, we will talk about an actor who became a famous face in the history of Indian cinema – Dev Anand. The larger-than-life actor made a name for himself in the industry and gave commercially hit films. Do you know that Dev was one of the first actors to turn the wilderness of Mumbai’s Juhu into a stars’ hub?

As we talk about Dev Anand, let’s dive into the details of his home. Dev’s home was the first celebrity-owned home in the area and was known for its serene atmosphere. Built in 1950, the bungalow served as Dev Anand’s residence for many years. When Dev’s home was built, it was surrounded by nothing but a deserted place. However, it was this very quality that made Dev fall in love with the place. Thus, nestled within the thickets and silence of Iris Park, a house emerged — destined to become a landmark.

The interiors of Dev’s bungalow were inspired by his style and elegance, which he exuded on screen. With earthy tones, plush sofas, vintage portraits and film posters, every corner of Dev’s house had a story to tell. You will be amazed to know that hardly any picture of the actor’s bungalow ever made it to the public.

Another interesting fact about Anand’s bungalow was that every year, he had to raise the boundary walls of his bungalow to keep out the paparazzi.

With years passing by, the area of Juhu in Mumbai slowly started becoming the hub for glitz and glamour, and Dev’s peace in the place shrank. In an interview, Dev even said how Juhu became a concrete jungle. “It’s not the same beach any longer,” he said.

After Dev passed away in 2011, the iconic bungalow which was once a home to a happy family became dilapidated. With his son Suniel settled in the U.S. and his daughter Devina and wife Kalpana Kartik living in Ooty, there was no one left to look after the property.

The family decided to sell it off. What is the most interesting part here is that a building once bought in a no man’s land was sold for a whopping Rs 350–400 crores, claimed media reports. Also, reports state that a 22-storey building is set to rise in its place.
