10 medals, 50 certificates: Delhi University topper Bisma Fareed shares heartfelt post after being rejected by…

‘Study well, score more, and you will get success’—since childhood, we have been hearing this phrase from our parents and teachers. But there are numerous examples in the real world that debunk this belief. Several toppers are not getting jobs and are forced to take up work below their qualifications. One such case from Delhi University has emerged on the internet and has become the talk of the town.

Bisma Fareed is a student of Delhi University. She recently shared a heartfelt post on LinkedIn that has resonated with several students. Bisma is in her first year and is pursuing a degree in English Honours from Hansraj College. She is not an ordinary student but a topper of her college. Yet surprisingly she has not been able to secure any internship despite her excellent academic performance.

After struggling to get an internship despite academic success, Bisma shared her experience on LinkedIn. Her viral post highlighted the disconnect between high grades and practical skills, emphasising that academic achievement alone isn’t sufficient for securing internships.

Recalling her teachers’ words, Bisma wrote, “Everyone said study. Only studies will help. Not all this.” But after entering into the real world, she understood that private companies don’t look for people with impressive marks, rather they need a person who can show results.

Bisma said, ‘The sad thing is that our schools and colleges still do not understand this.’

After reading her post, several students and professionals also shared their struggle stories

  • ‘You are absolutely right, I have also gone through this phase,’ a LinkedIn user commented.
  • ‘I was just okay in studies. But with time I learned practical things and that is where the real use came from,’ another user wrote.
  • ‘She is right, several newbies face similar problem,” another wrote.
