Assam Shocker: 60-Year-Old Man Beheads Wife Over Domestic Dispute, Carries Her Severed Head To Police Station On Cycle
In a shocking incident reported from Assam's Chirang district on Saturday, a 60-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife over a domestic dispute and carried her severed head to the police station to surrender.
The accused, identified as Bitish Hajong, used a sharp weapon to behead his wife, Bajanti Hajong, and transported the severed head in the storage basket of his bicycle.
According to reports, he cycled to the Ballamguri police outpost with the severed head and surrendered to the police.
Visuals from the police station have surfaced, showing blood stains on the bicycle and the accused in police custody.
The accused, a daily wage worker, resides in Uttar Ballamguri in the Chirang district. According to police, the 60-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife in a fit of rage following an argument over domestic issues.
A neighbour reported that the incident occurred when Bitish Hajong returned home after work on Saturday evening. According to the neighbour, the couple frequently argued over minor issues.
"The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Forensic specialists have gathered evidence from the scene," stated Rashmirekha Sarma, Additional Superintendent of Police, Chirang. "The husband is currently being held for questioning as we continue our investigation. At this stage, we cannot make assumptions about the circumstances surrounding the death."
