Man attacked, robbed in Nahan
A disturbing case of a violent assault and robbery has surfaced under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, where a 40-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon and looted near Bankalan Bridge late at night.
The victim, Rishipal, son of Kehar Singh and a resident of Bankalan village under the Shambhuwala post office in Nahan tehsil, reported the incident to police. A professional driver by occupation, Rishipal was on his way around 10 pm to pick up a relative on his motorcycle when the attack took place.
According to Rishipal’s statement, as he reached Bankalan Bridge, a car approached from the opposite side and blocked his path. Three individuals — identified as Sunny, Anku and Rishu — exited the vehicle and began to assault him. During the altercation, Sunny allegedly retrieved a sharp weapon from the car and struck Rishipal multiple times on different parts of his body.
Despite collapsing from the blows, the attackers continued to beat him mercilessly. Rishipal further alleged that the assailants snatched his gold chain and robbed Rs 50,000 from his pocket. He also stated that the trio issued death threats during the assault.
In a desperate bid to escape, Rishipal ran towards a nearby temple, but the attackers chased and assaulted him there as well. Fortunately, two individuals present at the temple intervened and managed to rescue him, prompting the assailants to flee. Before fleeing, they reportedly threw his motorcycle into the river beneath the bridge.
Rishipal’s brother later arrived and rushed him to the medical college in Nahan for treatment. He was discharged after receiving medical care. Police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and ensured a thorough medical examination of the victim.
Sirmaur ASP Yogesh Rolta confirmed that a case has been registered against all three accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that two of the suspects are residents of Jamta, while the third is from the local area. A detailed investigation is underway.
