Governor urges people to make state drug-free

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria today called upon citizens to collectively strive for Nasha-Mukt Punjab (drug-free Punjab), while emphasising the urgent need to protect and nurture the youth. He urged the medical fraternity and society at large to impart knowledge, skills and moral values to the younger generations to secure a healthier, stronger future.

In his keynote address after inaugurating the STONE 360 Midterm CUE-2025, a two-day conference of the north zone chapter of the Urological Society of India, at the AIIMS here today, Kataria described the event as a proud moment for Punjab, highlighting that distinguished urological experts from across the country had gathered to deliberate on critical advancements in kidney stone surgery.

Commending the Department of Urology at the hospital, he applauded its pioneering initiative in launching kidney transplantation services within the government sector in Punjab — a landmark achievement after the AIIMS, Delhi.

Earlier, Dr Meenu Singh, Director, AIIMS, Bathinda, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and other dignitaries.
