Nalagarh police foil bid by woman, paramour to cremate husband’s body

The Nalagarh police have uncovered the murder of a 32-year-old migrant youth, Satvir, whose body was being hurriedly taken for cremation by his wife and her paramour in Dattowal village on April 16. Baddi SP Vinod Dhiman said that a police team acted promptly upon receiving information that Satvir, a resident of Dattowal village, had died under suspicious circumstances. His wife, along with several others, was allegedly trying to cremate the body to conceal the murder. Acting on the tip-off, the police intervened and stopped the cremation. He added that Hansi, Satvir’s wife, had been detained and an investigation was underway.

The body, which bore injury marks, was sent to the IGMC, Shimla, for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary findings suggest a foul play while injuries indicated a possible murder. Satvir was living in Dattowal for over 15 years. He worked as a labourer and was residing in the village with his wife and a son.

According to the FIR registered by the Nalagarh police under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Satvir’s relatives alleged that his wife was having an affair with Darshan Singh, a contractor from Malpur village. The two were accused of conspiring to cremate the body hurriedly following Satvir’s sudden death.
