Artificial Intelligence (AI) is slowly taking over the world. And that is no surprise. Somewhere, people saw it coming. In tis technology driven era, AI is the hottest topic in every block. Business tycoons, tech moghuls everywhere are discoursing on the lengths and breadths of this technology and its boon and bane.

In addition to ChatGPT ,GROK, an Indian origin man created his own AI after working as a researcher in top
firms like Google. His name is Aravind Srinivasan. He is the CEO of Perplexity AI.

Who is Aravind Srinivasan

Aravind Srinivasan says he is the only engineer in his family. He completed his graduation from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and then also pursued his masters in electrical engineering. Later, he completed a doctorate, a PhD in Computer Science from the reputed University of California, Berkeley.

In Nikhil Kamath’s podcast he once shared about his family and education. “Our family had more of an accounting background. So engineering was still a new thing at the time for us,” he said. “Every time we would go on a bus and pass by the IIT Madras campus, my mom would point to the campus and say, ‘This is where you’re going to study.’ It’s not even like you should study; this is where you’re going to study. So that was the expectation,” he recalled. Srinivasan hails from Chennai but currently resides in San Francisco.

Aravind and AI

In the podcast he had reveald that it was during Kaggle competition that sparked his interest in machine and how they learn from data. He went on to work with Google, DeepMind before cofounding Perplexity AI. Perplexity AI, founded in 2022, was created by Srinivas alongside Andy Konwinski, Denis Yarats, and Johnny Ho.

As reported by Navbharat, a deal has been struck between Motorola and Perplexity where Motorola’s upcoming foldable smartphone Razr will see integration of Perplexity AI.
