Mukesh Ambani birthday: Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is the wealthiest man in Asia, and as the legendary industrialist celebrates his 68th birthday today (April 19, 2025), we take a brief look at some interesting things about his expansive business conglomerate, which is the most valued domestic firm in India.
Interesting things to know about Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries:
- World largest petroleum refinery: Reliance Industries owns and operates the world’s petroleum refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Jamnagar refinery’s operations range from exploration and production of natural oil and gas to the manufacturing of petroleum and related products.
- Asia’s largest mango plantation: Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance owns an expansive mango plantation in Jamnagar, Gujarat, boasting over 1 lakh mango trees that produce more than 100 varieties of mangoes. Reliance is the largest grower and exporter of mangoes.
- Mukesh Ambani owns IPL franchise Mumbai Indians: Beyond business ventures, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance also owns the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians which plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL), India’s biggest cricket league. Apart from the above mentioned business interests, Reliance has also invested in future tech, partnering US firm Skytrain, that makes self-driving electronic vehicles. The Mukesh Ambani-owned company bought a 51% stake in Bengaluru-based drone maker Asteria Aerospace, which builds drones that can fly at high altitudes, converting aerial view data into actionable intelligence.
Additionally in 2019, the oil-to-telecom conglomerate acquired a majority stake in augmented reality company Tesseract, which
