Drunk Driver Crashes Actor Bobby Simha’s Car Into 7 Vehicles in Chennai; 3 People Injured
Three people were injured after a car owned by National Award-winning actor Bobby Simha ramed into seven vehicles in a major accident in Chennai’s Alandur area on Friday evening. The actor’s driver, Pushparaj, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

The mishap occurred as the vehicle was traveling from Ekkaduthangal toward the Chennai airport. Police said the actor was not in the car at the time of the accident. According to Chennai traffic police, the driver lost control of the car while descending the Kathipara flyover near the Alandur Metro Station, as per a report on India Today. The car, reportedly speeding, rammed into three motorcycles, two autorickshaws, and another car.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with debris strewn across the road and injured commuters lying on the pavement. Emergency services rushed to the spot, and the three injured motorcyclists were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, reported The Mint. Fortunately, none of the injuries have been reported as life-threatening.
Pushparaj has been taken into custody, and a case has been filed for drunk driving, overspeeding, and causing injury due to negligence.
Bobby Simha, best known for his acclaimed performance in Jigarthanda (2014), which earned him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities are also verifying whether additional violations, such as lack of proper vehicle documentation or insurance, are involved.
He was last seen in actor Kamal Haasan's India 2 movie. He played the role of a CBI officer as Pramod Krishnaswamy.
Born in Andhra Pradesh, Bobby Simha rose to fame in Tamil film industry after his roles in films Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum, Neram, Bangalore Naatkal and Thiruttu Payale 2. He has also acted in Telugu and Malayalam movies.
