Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s son Anant Ambani spends huge amount of money on Vantara every year, expenditure includes special…

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman and Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, has built something truly remarkable in Jamnagar, a wildlife haven called Vantara, that is, “Van Ka rakshak”. Spread across a vast 3,000-acre green belt within the Jamnagar Refinery complex, Vantara is a private animal rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation center, believed to be the largest of its kind in the world.

Anant Ambani launched the initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by his lifelong passion for animal welfare. His aim was simple yet powerful i.e. to give injured, abused, or endangered animals from across India and even abroad a second chance at life.

Vantara is home to over 200 elephants and thousands of other animals and birds, representing more than 43 species. The rescued animals are treated, cared for, and gradually rehabilitated in a natural environment. The scale of the effort is enormous — around 2,100 people, including expert veterinarians, caregivers, and support staff, work full-time to look after these animals.

Which animals live in Vantara?

  • Elephants
  • Lions
  • Leopards
  • Deers
  • Turtles
  • Horses
  • And hundreds of rare species of animals

These animals have been rescued from countries like Africa, Thailand and America including India.

The center also boasts advanced medical facilities, specialized diet plans for animals, and spacious enclosures designed to closely replicate natural habitats. The yearly upkeep of Vantara runs into several crores of rupees, according to reports. This includes expenses for medical care, food, maintenance, and the salaries of the staff — all funded through Anant Ambani’s personal commitment and resources.

Vantara Annual Cost

According to reports, about Rs 150 to 200 crore is spent on this project every year. This expenditure includes:

  • Special diet plans for animals: Customised meals based on species, health, and nutrition needs.
  • Team of international veterinary doctors: Experts from around the world hired to ensure top-tier animal care.
  • Air-conditioned medical units: Climate-controlled facilities for surgeries, treatment, and recovery.
  • Modern rehabilitation center: State-of-the-art spaces for rescued or recovering animals to heal and thrive.

Anant Ambani is deeply emotionally connected to this project. He personally oversees its progress and takes part in every major and minor decision.
