Campus notes: Cyber-Fraud Awareness Lecture

On the second day of the fortnight-long celebration marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) hosted a special lecture on the theme of Cyber Fraud Awareness. The session was chaired by Rohtak Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum-District Legal Services Authority Secretary, Dr Tarannum Khan. Addressing the gathering, Dr Khan highlighted the alarming rise in cyber fraud cases in recent years and emphasised the urgent need for public awareness and digital literacy. “We live in a world where the screen has become the new street. While it offers convenience, it also exposes us to unseen risks. Education and vigilance are our first line of defence,” she said during her keynote address. Dr Khan cited real-life case studies and explained the techniques used by cyber criminals to trap unsuspecting individuals. Her team used visual aids to demonstrate how fraudsters exploit psychological manipulation and technology to gain trust and steal sensitive data. Students of the Acting Department performed a street play illustrating common cyber-fraud traps and the consequences faced by victims. Dr Gunjan Malik, Registrar, appreciated the initiative to educate students on such a relevant issue.

Webinar on 3D Printing

Mahendragarh: The Department of Printing and Packaging Technology under the School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) at Central University of Haryana (CUH) conducted a webinar on 3D Printing. Anant Deshpande, Technical Director at Trokut Solution Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, was the expert speaker. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the successful conduct of the event, while Prof Vikas Garg, Dean, SOET, congratulated the department for the initiative. Deshpande spoke about various aspects of additive manufacturing used in metal 3D printing technologies, ranging from micron to meter scale, across different techniques. He highlighted a variety of materials, including metals, used for making prototypes and complex geometries through 3D printing. He also discussed the diverse applications of 3D printing, including in aerospace, automotive, healthcare and energy sectors.

Research Methodology Course

Mahendragarh: A 10-day Intensive Research Methodology Course for Social Science Research, a collaborative initiative by the Department of Psychology at Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, concluded with a valedictory session celebrating academic excellence and scholarly exchange. The workshop brought together aspiring researchers from across the country for an enriching academic experience designed to enhance their understanding of social science research methods. Participants engaged in a rigorous curriculum combining theoretical knowledge with practical research training, equipping them with essential tools for high-quality and impactful research. Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the long-standing tradition of research in Indian civilisation, referencing examples of systematic inquiry found in ancient epics and scriptures. “Social research is not a modern invention. Our heritage reflects deep engagement with empirical questions, logical reasoning and philosophical thought. It is vital we link our present pursuits with our rich intellectual past,” he remarked. Dr Vishnu Narayan Kucheria, course director and Prof Payal Kanwar Chandel, co-director, mentioned that the session featured presentations by participants, who shared their research insights and reflections on the course.
