Kejriwal’s daughter weds IIT-D mate at Kapurthala House; Mann, wife attend

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s daughter Harshita on Friday tied the knot with her Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi classmate Sambhav Jain at a low key event in Lutyens Delhi.

Friday’s celebrations, marked by a ‘jaimala’ (exchange of garlands) in the afternoon and a reception in the evening, unfolded at Kapurthala House — the official residence of the Punjab Chief Minister.

This is the second high-profile private event a senior AAP leader has hosted at Kapurthala House. Earlier in May 2023, AAP MP Raghav Chadha’s engagement ceremony with actor Parineeti Chopra took place here.

The Tribune has learnt that just about 150 select invites were issued for the Harshita-Sambhav wedding, where singer Mika also performed.

The highlight of the event was an all-vegetarian menu with both families, the Kejriwals and Jains, vegetarians.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife, senior AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister of Delhi Atishi, AAP’s Punjab incharge Manish Sisodia, former minister Gopal Rai and Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha were among invitees.

The marriage was largely a private affair with family and friends on both sides in attendance. Two people were the master of ceremonies — Arvind Kejriwal from the girl’s side and Vishal Jain, the groom’s father.

The Tribune has learnt that Vishal Jain is an auto part manufacturer with a vast business network and his son Sambhav runs his own tech startup, while Harshita works at an MNC.

The Friday event was preceded by two pre-wedding functions — engagement at a top-end Lutyens’ Delhi hotel and mehndi which the bride and the groom’s families hosted separately on Wednesday.

“At all events leading up to the wedding today, the menu was vegetarian,” a family that attended all three functions said.
