‘Lady don’ link ‘emerges’
The name of Ziqra, a woman who brands herself as a “lady don” on Instagram, has emerged in the case. Ziqra is one of the three suspects who had been detained in the case. She once worked in the inner circle of a gangster’s wife and now commands her own group of roughly 10 to 15 young men.
Police sources said the murder was orchestrated by her as she wanted to avenge her brother’s stabbing. “She wanted to take revenge for her brother’s stabbing and had formed her own gang. She also recently went to jail in a case,” the sources said.
Ziqra’s Instagram feed is filled with videos where she openly displays firearms. In a recent clip shared last month, she posed with a crude, country-made pistol. Her online antics have earned her more than 15,000 followers.
Locals say she frequently roams in the streets, with a pistol in her hand, filming content for her social media. She was even spotted carrying a firearm during Holi festivities. Viral videos eventually caught the attention of the authorities, resulting in an FIR under the Arms Act and a short time behind bars.
AAP, BJP trade barbs
While CM Rekha Gupta assured action in the case and said she spoke to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora in this regard, the AAP blamed the BJP for “deteriorating” law and order situation in the city.
Senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi accused the BJP-led Central government and the Delhi Police of failing to ensure the safety of citizens.
“The murder of a 17-year-old youth in Seelampur is another example of the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi,” Atishi posted on X.
“What are Delhi Police doing? What is Home Minister Amit Shah doing? What is the double-engine government doing?” she asked, referring to the BJP government at the Centre that controls the Delhi Police.
BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi said, “We have assured the family that there is no need to panic or leave the area. Strict action will be taken against the accused. The police are doing their job and the culprits will be punished.”
“In Hindustan, Hindus will stay. No one needs to leave their homes. We have removed the posters and assured people that we are standing with them. If there is a need for the Yogi model, it will be used. If an encounter is required, the police will act accordingly. If any accused tries to flee, we will respond with the Yogi model,” he said.
Residents seek justice through ‘Yogi model’
Local residents held a protest over the incident and also blocked some roads to express their resentment over the deteriorating law and order situation in the area. The protesters gathered on roads seeking “justice through Yogi Adityanath model” as they claimed that the Hindu community is not safe in this area. Posters were found pasted on the doors and walls of the houses reading “Hindu exodus”, and appealing for help from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
During the protest, several people could be seen holding posters seeking bulldozer action in Seelampur.
