BSF, police seize weapons from Amritsar border village
A day after, the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered three pistols from Rajatal border village in the district, the BSF in a joint operation with Punjab Police personnel confiscated six pistols along with 14 magazines from Mahawa village near the International Border with Pakistan on Friday.
A BSF spokesman said its intelligence wing received a drone-dropped consignment from the border village of Mahawa, following which an extensive search operation with the help of Punjab Police was carried out at the designated spot.
He said the operation led to the seizure of a large packet, which was lying in a field, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape. A metal ring was also attached with it indicating that it was smuggled via a drone. He said upon opening it carefully, they recovered six pistols and 14 magazines.
On Thursday, the BSF had seized three pistols along with six magazines and 97 live rounds from Rajatal border village.
Meanwhile, the BSF arrested two drug peddlers and seized packets of contraband, two Pakistani drones and a pistol in separate incidents in the past 24 hours in Amritsar and Tarn Taran border belt.
BSF officers said BSF troops in collaboration with Punjab Police arrested a drug peddler who was looking for drug consignment smuggled from Pakistan at Wan village in Tarn Taran. Similarly, they arrested another narco smuggler with a packet of heroin containing 519-gm heroin near Dhaone Kalan village in Amritsar. They also impounded his motorcycle. The BSF also recovered parts of a pistol along with an empty magazine from the village this morning.
In another incident, the BSF seized a pistol from Roranwala Khurd village in Amritsar and a drone was recovered from Rattankhurd village.
Similarly, the BSF and Punjab Police seized a drone from Mastgarh border village in Tarn Taran.
