Told 'Die If You Want': Hyderabad Woman Kills Sons With Coconut Chopper, Ends Own Life Over Genetic Disorder
A 35-year-old woman allegedly killed her two young sons before dying by suicide in the Gajularamaram area, under the jurisdiction of the Jeedimetla Police Station on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The incident occurred on Thursday.
The woman, identified as Tejaswini, reportedly used a coconut chopper to kill her children – Harsh Harshit Reddy (11) and Ashish Reddy (6) – before jumping from the fifth floor of her apartment building.
Suicide Note Reveals Ongoing Struggles
A six-page suicide note recovered by police points to Tejaswini’s severe physical and emotional distress. According to police, she wrote extensively about her and her children's deteriorating eye and health conditions, including a genetic eye disorder that required both children to receive eye drops every four hours to prevent vision loss.
Tejaswini also expressed frustration with her own chronic health issues and the lack of meaningful support, stating that she felt “God did not give me a proper life.”
She was reportedly angry with her husband after he reportedly told her 'die if you want', as per a report on PTI.
Family Background
The family had been residing in the building for four years. Her husband, reportedly the president of the residential society, was said to be largely uninvolved due to ongoing marital tensions. Neighbours described Tejaswini as reclusive, often avoiding interaction with others in the building, as per a report on India Today.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Officials stated that while the suicide note highlights ongoing health and personal struggles, further inquiries will aim to establish a clearer picture, especially regarding the mental health status of the deceased and any possible negligence or external factors.
