AR Rahman breaks silence on his dating rumours with Mohini Dey: ‘Zindagi ka hissa hai…’
Veteran musician AR Rahman is currently busy preparing for his music concert, Wonderment. In the past, he faced ups and downs in his personal life and was in the news due to rumours about his divorce from wife Saira Bano. Soon after the divorce news, a post about Rahman went viral on social media, claiming that he was in a relationship with the band’s guitarist, Mohini Dey.
Now, the singer has shared in a recent conversation how badly such rumours related to one’s personal life can affect mental health. In an interview with IANS, AR Rahman spoke openly about the preparations for his ‘Wonderment’ tour, the use of AI in music, rumours, and their impact on mental health. When asked how important mental happiness is for music and whether rumours affect him, Rahman replied, “I think rumours do affect you, and every artist goes through that phase. Rumours have a negative impact on mental health. Artists often feel trapped in such situations, but still have to keep working. Even during tough times, they have to perform songs like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ or ‘Humma Humma’. Whether it’s a singer or anyone else, you end up becoming like an actor in those moments—you may be hurting inside, but you have to show that you’re happy.”
AR Rahman was asked how he feels when rumours about him surface. To this, he responded, “Such things do affect us, but I believe they are a part of life. Ups and downs are a part of it.”
Back then, AR Rahman had issued a statement to the rumours. He also released a legal notice, stating that he would take legal action against those spreading defamatory news about him. Mohini Dey was in the news because she also announced her divorce from husband, music composer Mark Hartsuch. Mohini is a bassist who performs in Rahman’s troupe.
Those who are unaware, Saira recently clarified that they are not legally divorced, stating, ‘We are still husband and wife. ‘ This statement has left fans confused about their relationship status.
