The famous bridge in Pune - the Baba Bhide Bridge, which often gets closed in monsoon after water release from Khadakwasla Dam, will stay closed for commuters for one and a half months from today.

The Metro officials and traffic police officials closed the bridge to carry out work on the pedestrian bridge connecting the metro station.

The Bhide Bridge remains a major connecting link from the Deccan area to the central part of the city for Punekars. Even people from Sinhagad Road and the Kothrud area use it to go to Shivajinagar and Nagar Road.

Baba Bhide Bridge

Bhide Bridge, popularly known as Baba Bhide Bridge, is an important link in Pune that connects the Deccan area to Narayan Peth across the Mutha River. Constructed in 1996, the bridge often gains attention during the monsoon as it frequently gets submerged when water is released from the Khadakwasla Dam. It is named after Babarao Bhide, a noted lawyer and social reformer.
