Anupam Kher, Kajol, Mahesh Manjrekar & Others To Receive Maharashtra Government's Cultural Awards
Minister for Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar on Thursday announced the winners of five major honours: The Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award, Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award, Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award and the Gansamradni Lata Mangeshkar Award.
This year the Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar. The honour comprises a cash prize of Rs10 lakh, along with a memento, citation and a commemorative silver medal. The Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award will be presented to actor Mukta Barve. The award includes Rs6 lakh in cash.
Actor Anupam Kher will be honoured with the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award, while the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award will be presented to actor Kajol. The awards carry cash prizes of Rs10 lakh and Rs6 lakh, respectively. The Gansamradni Lata Mangeshkar Award will be conferred upon ghazal singer Bhimrao Panchale.
The honour includes a cash prize of Rs10 lakh. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the NSCI Dome, on April 25. In addition to the award ceremony, the Department of Cultural Affairs will host a musical tribute on April 20, at 6.30pm, at the Gateway of India, to commemorate the Amrit Mahotsav of the Constitution and the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Artists including Suresh Wadkar and Vaishali Samant will grace the stage. The event will showcase musical renditions, theatrical presentations, and dance performances inspired by the life of Dr Ambedkar. The event is open to all and passes will be available at Shivaji Natya Mandir and Ravindra Natya Mandir.
