No headway in air hostess case, 7-member SIT formed

Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora on Thursday formed a seven-member special investigation team (SIT), led by Dr Arpit Jain, DCP (Headquarters), in the case of alleged sexual assault of an air hostess at Medanta Hospital.

A senior investigation officer of the Gurugram police said the CCTV footage of the hospital showed that the woman on the ventilator was not alone for a moment. He said around 10 staff members, including three male members, had been questioned, but the allegations had not been proven yet. Hence, an SIT had been formed to speed up the investigation.

According to a police spokesperson, the SIT includes ACP (Sadar) Yashwant Yadav, ACP Dr Kavita, SHOs of women and Sadar police stations, incharge of crime unit, Sector 40, and the investigating officer of the case.

After four days of investigation, the police have yet to identify the accused. Earlier, the hospital released an official statement, saying that the allegations had not been substantiated.

“We have been made aware of a complaint from a patient and have been cooperating with the investigations conducted by the relevant authorities. At this stage, no allegations have been substantiated, and all relevant documents, including CCTV footage, from the hospital for the time period in question have been handed over to the police. We remain committed to supporting the process of investigation,” Dr Sanjay Durani, Medical Superintendent of Medanta, Gurugram, said in the statement.
