Waqf Act row: No fresh appointments or de-notification of existing waqfs, Centre assures SC

The Supreme Court halted new appointments to waqf boards under the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025. CJI Sanjiv Khanna's bench recorded Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's assurance on existing waqfs. The Centre must respond in seven days.
