US stops Iran from making nuclear bomb, now making similar weapon with explosive capacity of…, its name is…
The United States has announced that it is stepping up the production of a new nuclear bomb called the B61-13. This bomb is 24 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. The move is being described as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s nuclear deterrent system due to rising global tensions.
Interestingly, Iran said that it is not trying to make nuclear weapons, but its nuclear program is for civilian purposes. However, Iran’s motive is doubtful, because its secret nuclear bases were discovered in 2002. However, US is constantly in discussion about Iran’s nuclear program. Now at a time when nuclear agreement between Iran and America seems to be materialising, US President Donald Trump has made it clear that if Iran does not stop trying to make nuclear weapons, then America will attack its nuclear bases.
The work on making the B61-13 nuclear bomb will begin ahead of schedule and it will be ready seven months before its original schedule. Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico has confirmed this. Scientists said that this decision was taken in response to an immediate and serious threat posed by international developments.
What is B61-13
B61-13 is a gravity bomb. This means that it has no guidance system. It is dropped from an aircraft and falls towards the target using gravity. The bomb is designed with a variable yield. This allows its explosive power to be adjusted from 10 to 360 kilotons. The B61-13 is much more powerful than the ‘Little Boy’ bomb used on Hiroshima. That bomb had a yield of 15 kilotons. The B61-13 can reach 360 kilotons, making it 24 times more powerful.
The new bomb is meant to replace older nuclear weapons. It will be used with B-21 stealth bombers. These bombers are part of the US strategy to modernise its nuclear capabilities. The B61-13 is to be used against large or highly protected targets.
