This actress was launched by Dev Anand, dated Dawood Ibrahim, banned from films, later accused of…; She is…

The connection between Bollywood and the underworld is quite old. In the 1980s and 1990s, the threat of the underworld loomed over Hindi cinema to such an extent that it left the industry shaken. Gulshan Kumar, the owner of T-Series, lost his life, and after the success of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, when the underworld demanded extortion from Rakesh Roshan and he refused to pay, he was shot at in public.

It is also said that in the 90s, people from the underworld used to invest money in Bollywood films. Not only that, they also pressured directors and producers to cast actresses close to them in their movies. Dawood Ibrahim’s name was linked with several Bollywood actresses. From Ram Teri Ganga Maili’s Mandakini to Mamta Kulkarni, there were reports of their alleged link-ups with Dawood. One of the actresses who made headlines for her alleged relationship with Dawood was Anita Ayub, who was once Dev Anand’s heroine.

So, who is Anita Ayub, the actress rumoured to be in a relationship with Dawood Ibrahim and what is her connection to Pakistan? Let’s find out in this detailed story.

If you’re a 90s kid, you might remember Dev Anand’s film ‘Pyar Ka Taraana’. This was the movie that opened the doors of opportunity in Bollywood for Anita Ayub, who came from Pakistan. Dev Anand was the director and the lead actors were Akshay Anand, Mink Brar, Girija Shankar, Sushma Seth, and Shreeram Lagoo.

After this film, she appeared in ‘Sab Ka Baap’ (Urdu), ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’ (Punjabi), and ‘Maria’. Later, the actress once again got a chance to work with veteran actor Dev Anand in the 1995 film ‘Gangster’. However, the movie flopped at the box office, and Anita Ayub’s Bollywood career came to an end within just two years. Despite her short stint in films, Anita remained in the limelight, mainly because of her rumoured love story with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Though Anita never admitted to having a connection with Dawood, a report in E-Times claimed that a Bollywood producer lost his life because of her. The incident took place in 1995 when producer Javed Siddiqui refused to cast Anita Ayub in his film. As a result, one of Dawood’s men allegedly shot and killed the producer in broad daylight. After this shocking incident, many people in the industry started to believe that the actress had ties to Dawood.

A Pakistani magazine published news claiming that many people in the Bollywood industry believed Anita was a Pakistani spy. After this, her career in India was completely ruined. At present, she stays away from the film industry and is living happily with her businessman husband in New York. She married an Indian Gujarati businessman Saumil Patel in 1995.
