Meet actress who once competed with Rekha, scared Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, worked in B-grade films, quit acting, is now.. name was…
In the era from the 70s to the 90s, Bollywood witnessed many actresses making their way into the industry. However, only a few were able to sustain themselves. While many left on their own, others’ careers were destroyed due to various reasons. Today, we will talk about an actress who started her journey with beauty pageants and soon became a sensation in Bollywood. However, after a certain time, she vanished from the industry, and people were left wondering where she went. She gave tough competition to superstar Rekha with her glamorous avatar and power-packed performances.
The actress we are discussing is someone whose career sank because of the three Khans. Yes, while this may sound absurd, this has indeed been the case. The actress in discussion is Sonu Walia.
Sonu emerged as one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. Born as Sanjeet Kaur Walia, she was counted among the top actresses of that era. However, in most of the movies, she appeared in side roles. She bagged the title of Femina Miss India in the year 1985.
In her career, Sonu worked with many big names. However, do you know that it was because of the three Khans of Bollywood that her career was ruined? Yes, you read that right! In one of her interviews, Sonu shared that she was taller compared to other actresses and even actors, and it became one of the reasons why she got limited opportunities in films.
Sonu’s height certainly became a factor as the popularity of the three Khans — Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan — began to rise. Though she did not properly hint at it as the sole reason, she did say that the dominance of the Khans in the industry became a reason she stopped getting good scripts.
Over the next few years, Sonu tried hard to get some good roles. However, she did not get any and later started featuring in B-grade films. After much struggle, Sonu Walia decided to get married and settle down. She married Surya Pratap Singh, an NRI based in the US. He passed away in 2009.
Currently, Sonu is involved in the production house she owns.
