Mumbai News: Pipeline Burst Near DN Road Junction in Fort Wastes Thousands of Litres of Water; BMC Blames Civic Contractor
Mumbai: A pipeline burst near the D.N. Road Junction, opposite New Excelsior Theatre in Fort, led to the wastage of thousands of litres of water on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 8 PM and was reportedly caused by a civic contractor undertaking drainage repair work in the area.
According to officials from the BMC's A Ward, the six-inch water pipeline was accidentally damaged during the ongoing repairs. Civic personnel were immediately dispatched to the site, and emergency measures were taken to control the leakage.
Despite the burst, water supply to the area remained unaffected at the time of the incident. “Since the water supply is currently operational, the leak detection and repair work will be initiated on Thursday morning,” a civic official confirmed.
The civic official has assured that appropriate action will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future and to hold responsible parties accountable for the damage.
